LA'merica

LA is beautiful and sunny and warm and all of those good things- for those of you who don't know, LA is where i will be getting a flight to Auckland, New Zealand! woohoo! The Hacienda Hotel (where i am staying at) is lovely, its authentic mexican themed. they're feeding me good, although seeing as i am a fat kid at heart, i am still quite hungry. its twenty past five, so we'll be feasting away soon. My flight leaves tonight at 11 30 and i am so stoked! My room-mate here is Tally, follow her blog here. She's going to Malaysia for a year to work in an orphange which is pretty cool. anyways, this is a picture of flying from pennsylviania to LA.
It was a gorgeous view, yes, as you all can see. Now fast forward to when me and tally waiting outside our hotel room with all our packed-up bags.

and below is a photo of our hotel room which was pretty freaaaking nice. Traveling since 4 00 in the morning until 12 00 at night can really tire one out. my bed is the closest one aka the neat one. i will be sad to leave this hotel room, even though i only slept here once.
You can see me and tally and our incredible hotel outside, it was really pretty. i'm not used to seeing palm trees, which was kind of odd at first, but i'm getting used to them now.
I'm so excited from my flight out of the states. i'm' the only american student going to New Zealand for a year, not just a semester. waaahhh : (  once i get to new zealand though, i can meet up with the foreign kids who are staying in new zealand for a year.
peace, evelyn

oh and i don't suppose anyone wants to install this amazing fountain in my house, fo' freeeee? any takers? hit me up if you do…..i realize this is VERY unlikely. :)

Cut-Cut-Chop-Chop

This post is completely irrelevant to my New Zealand blog, but its very exciting nonetheless.
Okay, so last night, my older sister Ann (age-21) was like, "I need a haircut" Which, in my opinion, is completely crazy because her hair isn't that long to being with. Anyways, I was all like, "Ann, let me cut you hair! I'm very good at cutting hair!" Haha, which to be honest, i'm not. I cut my own hair and it looks good, but that's because i know my texture well. But anyways, a few months ago,
my friends and i were just chilling in Mrs. Schafebook's room (favorite teacher and cross-country coach) and my one friend Zach Martin was like, "Guys, i'm shaving my hair." and as you can imagine, we all flipped out at him, because it would have been HORRIBLE. and you know the saying, Friends don't let friends drive cut their hair under the influence. So, my one other friend, Emily, was like "let evelyn cut it!" or something and i agreed and zach did too, which was the first of many mistakes on his part, by the way. So i grabbed a pair of scissors and Zach sat in the chair and Mrs. Schafebook was like "oh my god, zach, its evelyn. This is going to be bad." Zach had told me he only wanted me to cut off half-an-inch. ha ha ha… so I just randomly started cutting here and there and chopping away and soon the floor was covered in his hair. I was going to DIE from laughing, i swear to god. Zach turned his head and picked a piece of hair off his shoulder, and started freaking out, "Evelyn! It was supposed to be a half-an-inch!" and he walked over to Mrs. Schafebook and Schafebook was just like to me, "What have you done?" and it was a good day with laughter and chopping and so on. The Next day anyways, Zach comes in with his hair almost completely shaven off. Anyways, the moral of that story was: Do not let me cut your hair, because it will be bad…

But (back to the present) my sister, Ann, does not know that. I altered the story about Zach for her a little, saying he loved his haircut and she is really excited for me to cut her hair. A few months ago, i pierced her ears (with one of my good sewing needles) because she was too scared to go to the mall to get them done, which by the way, i don't blame her. That piercer freaks me out, with her buggy eyes. Anyways, her ears turned out fine, and now she makes all kinds of earrings to wear for herself. During the piercing process, i was laughing the whole time and she was yelling and it was a great day. I told her afterwards, if she thought getting her ears pierced were painful, she should get a tattoo. : )

NEW YEAR

Happy New Year, everyone! :)

Well today was quite interesting. loljk, slept through all my classes, b-o-r-i-n-g! *yawn*
i have so much school work to do that is due after i leave for new zealand. I talked to all my teachers, and i don't have to do any of it. :) As you can imagine, this makes me verrry happy. :) Hence the constant smiley faces :).

So anyways, i have 20 days left (counting weekends), and 15 days left (or something) of school not counting the weekends. Can't wait, must wait. I wish i was leaving tomorrow :\ but like i said, 20 excruciatingly long days and nights. I have been thinking of what to pack, but i have no idea. I mean, how am i supposed to narrow down my closet to one suitcase? for a year?! Impossible. IMPOSSIBLE I SAY! fashion and art = my life. And don't you dare roll your eyes!
Anyways, Henry and I are going to bake some cookies now. Lemon meringue!
yummmmm :)

emails, emails

well i finally got around to emailing the "Bookers", my host family.
Everytime i think of "Host Family" it makes me think of parasites
or some weird gross host disease living in my body. BLECHH!
I wonder if they like to read though, seeing as their name is Bookers,
anyway, yes, so sorry for rambling on and on, i know it must be quite painful for you.
Where was i now?
Ahh yes, they emailed me back.
it turns out, there are only 3 daughters.
Sarah, Kate, and Hannah.
'cause i was thinking, why would
you name twins 'Kate' & 'Kathleen'
....they're practically the same names.

But AFS made a slight error, because Kathleen is often addressed as Kate or whatever. I DON'T KNOW. AFS, *tsk, tisk*, get with the program.
Continuing on:
they didn't email me photos of themselves,
so i still don't know what they look like.
I'm praying they aren't creepy looking.
Also, THEY HAVE CATS! yes, yes, yes!
They have 3: Mathilda, Black Cat (i'm not sure if that's the name or not..)
and the 3rd cat is either dead and/or missing.
I am so stoked about the cats, not the dead one, i mean the cats in general.
Also, they emailed me that: "the school has a high academic expectation"
Thank god i have been in geek classes all my life,
this should be easy sailing for me. *gulp*

Also, another cool thing is another girl from US is coming for 6 months.
Her name is Dorothy.
i wonder if she comes from kansas….?
Don't know much about her, will find out at a later due date, yes? yes.
Anyways, Kate, the 17 year old, plays field hockey.
i don't know if i want to play also becaaaaause:
a) i suck at hockey and
b) i don't really like it. at all.
i'm feeling up to playing on the rugby team, actually.
take out my anger. haha, i'm only kidding. never mind that.

Oh! and another thing that's pretty cool
is their dad is british like my mom.
So they're 1/2 new zealand-ish (?) and 1/2 british
while i am 1/2 american and 1/2 british.
i mean based on just their parents, not their whole ancestors….

Also, i have to get the train to school errr' day.
i can't decide if this is an inconvenience or if this is cool.
Anyways, i'll leave you with this picture of what i woke up to this morning.
yes, i live in the middle of nowhere. On occasion, it can look pretty. But only on occasion.

piercings

I found out recently that i'll be attending an all girls catholic school.
and we're required to wear these bags that are commonly referred to as "uniforms".
I saw a picture of these girls wearing them on the college page.
Oh my god, i started to gag. Yes, honestly. That bad.
They aren't even remotely cute!
Oh, and if that wasn't bad enough,
you can't have facial piercings.
So i have to buy about 15 clear, flat nose studs
and hope i won't lose them all while i'm over there.
Oh and do they think by wearing nail polish, or because i have a tattoo,
i will suddenly start worshipping Satan?
That's funny, i thought the Nazi's were in Germany, but apparently they've invaded New Zealand.

The Happiest Time of the Year?

i finally received my host family information.
and i'm not going to lie, i am pretttty stoked.
(and also kind of worried)
The family name is the "Bookers"
The dad's name is Andrew.
The mom's name is Cathie.
Pretty laid back i think.
How can i tell that from a name?
Well, i've just got a feeling they're going to be cool, i guess.
i have four (FOUR!?) host sisters.
Kathleen and Kate are twins, born on 11/04/1993
i'm very bad with names, so i'm just going to call Kathleen, "Thing 1" and Kate, "Thing 2".
That was actually a joke......*awkward silence*
err, ANYWAYS-
Sarah, born on 1/23/1985 &&
Hannah born on 7/16/1987
Unfortunately, i have not one host brother!! UGH. That sucks. i get along a lot better with guys than with girls so :( oh well...
I also found out i will be enrolled in St. Mary's College an all girls school.
i will go insane.
you might as well kill me now.
this is.. i can't even- oh my god.
no, i just can't- i don't even-
oh god- i may cry. or freak out.
i'm freaking out already. oh jesus.
Its just, you know, an all girls school.
